Myanmar, an amazing country. For many years we avoided the trains hearing that they were slowest of all means travel. Thus we were apprehensive of the thought of spending 22 hours or more on overnight journey to reach Myitkyina (pronounced Micheena) in the far north of the Kachin State and our destination, the Amber fields. The reality prove far more enjoyable. In our own cabin, window open, watching the country pass by, never faster then bicycle. Night falling, cooking fires, faces lit in the dark, life passing. Myanmar trains really rock and once you get your ‘sea legs’ sleep comes deep. The following stars bright in the heavens the last thought as the sound of the train carries you into a new day and new lands.
