These bronze oil lamps are known as deepalakshmi’s (oil lamps of the goddess Lakshmi) and are created in the lost wax method with each one unique. All have a casted image of Lakshmi, Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity and wife of Vishnu. The lighting of them is a very important part of the Hindu festival of Diwali – the festival of lights. Each lamp is very old and has been passed down from generations with some showing much wear from countless hands and past celebrations. Very hard to find with this aging.
